1. Is this covered by my insurance?
Most insurance companies cover 70-100% of both the sleep study and the DME purchase (CPAP). Your coverage will depend on your personal insurance plan.

2. Can my spouse spend the night with me?
It is preferred your spouse does not spend the night.  A caregiver can spend the night if you      need assistance and they will be woken up to assist in your needs.  The caregiver will spend the night in an adjoining room.

3. How long does the study take?
The study will require at least 6 hours for actual testing. The time will start when you fall asleep. The study may take up to 8 hours if you are being treated for sleep apnea (CPAP machine and mask are applied.) You can specify a time you would like to wake up and we will do our best to ensure we have enough data.

4. What do I need to bring to the study, will I be comfortable?
You will need to bring your photo identification and insurance card so that we can make a copy of it.  You may also bring your own pillow if you desire.  Bring comfortable sleepwear along with a book, magazines or anything else you need to be comfortable.  We have private rooms, full/queen size beds, cable TV, and DVD /VHS player in each room.

5. What if I am unable to fall asleep?
If you have a strong feeling that you will not be able to sleep call your referring physician or Primary Care Physician to have a sleep aide called into your pharmacy for you; such as Ambien or Sonata.

6. What if I have to get up to use the bathroom?
No problem, you will simply call us through the intercom in your room and we can very quickly un-hook one snap so you can move and walk freely. When you are back in bed, we will re-connect and resume the test.

What Happens Next?

Your provider will fax an order to our attention and we will call you to schedule your appointment. Before hand, we will call your insurance carrier to verify your coverage and benefits; this information will then be relayed to you in our phone conversation. During our call to you, we will also ask for some additional information, such as your address so that we can mail you some informational brochures and a pre-study questionnaire. Please try to fill out as much of the questionnaire as you can and bring it with you to your appointment, along with your insurance card.

Some additional information:

Please do not use any products on your hair prior to your study (hair spray, gel).  Also, your hair must be dry. Do not apply any body lotions. We have some VHS movies available, but you may bring your own favorite. You can let us know when you need to get up in the morning, but please remember we need at least six hours of data. Avoid alcoholic and caffeinated beverages prior to your appointment, and try not to take any naps that day. Please bring all of your P.M. and A.M. medications with you to your appointment.
